글로벌 시대의 공익법 실천: 법정을 넘어, 공공의 질서를 설계하다 

서울대학교 법학전문대학원 공익법률센터는 제1회 콜로퀴움으로 「글로벌 시대의 공익법 실천: 법정을 넘어, 공공의 질서를 설계하다」를 개최합니다.

공익법률센터가 처음 선보이는 이번 콜로퀴움은, 공익법을 개별 사건의 소송과 옹호를 넘어 정책형성·규제개혁·제도설계의 과정에 참여하는 공적 실천으로 바라보며, 그 역할과 과제를 오늘날의 거버넌스와 신기술 환경 속에서 다시 묻는 자리입니다. 국제기구와 다양한 국가적 맥락에서의 경험을 바탕으로, Ermal Frasheri 교수는 글로벌 시대 공익법 실천이 규제개혁과 거버넌스의 형성, 복합적 사회문제에 대한 대응, 나아가 사회경제적 발전과 책임성 있고 회복력 있는 제도의 구축에 이르기까지 공공의 방향과 제도적 기반을 형성하는 데 어떻게 관여하는지를 살펴볼 예정입니다. 이어지는 이수진 교수와의 대담과 토론에서는 이러한 문제의식이 오늘날의 디지털 시장과 신기술이 제기하는 새로운 규제·거버넌스 과제, 그리고 법학교육에 대해 갖는 함의를 함께 탐색합니다.

Public Interest Lawyering in a Global Age: Beyond the Courtroom

The Public Interest & Legal Clinic Center at Seoul National University School of Law is pleased to announce its inaugural colloquium, “Public Interest Lawyering in a Global Age,” subtitled “Beyond the Courtroom: Law, Policy Formation, and Institutional Design.”

This colloquium considers public interest law not merely as litigation or advocacy in individual cases, but as a form of public practice engaged in policy formation, regulatory reform, and institutional design, and revisits its role and challenges in the context of contemporary governance and emerging technological change. Drawing on experience across international organizations and diverse national contexts, Professor Ermal Frasheri will examine how public interest lawyering in a global age contributes to regulatory reform, the shaping of governance, responses to complex social challenges, and, more broadly, to the building of accountable and resilient institutions that sustain socio-economic development. The discussion that follows with Professor Soo Jin Lee will further explore what this perspective means for the new regulatory and governance challenges posed by digital markets and emerging technologies, as well as for legal education.
